We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestors he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. Acts 13:32-33
If you watch the news on a regular basis you will mostly hear bad news. Bad news is good for television ratings because somehow we are drawn to it. We talk about it, share it, and discuss it. Regardless of what is going on in the world around us, God is always working behind the scenes; miracles and testimonies seem to lay dormant and untold. As God’s children we have promises that are given to us; the same promises given to our ancestors, because of what Jesus did on the cross. God raised Jesus from the dead, so we could have an abundant life (John 10:10). So, I think in a world of bad news we need to lift up the Lord and shine a light in the darkness! If you have been in the presence of God for any length of time, surely you can think of something good He has done!
Whenever God did extraordinary things in biblical times, it was recorded. We still read those words today, and it stirs our faith. God is on the move, and I believe we need to share what God is doing amidst all the chaos that surrounds us. We are called to give an account to others for the hope that we have (Romans 14:12). The Apostle Paul likened us to walking epistles; letters from Christ, stories written not with ink, but the spirit of the living God.
You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. 2 Corinthians 3:2-3
We all have a story to tell, and I pray that this newsletter/blog will serve as a testament to the love of God; a record of our journey as a church, that we can look back on to reflect on the goodness of God. Even when things look bad, God is still good! This is another way to glorify and worship the God who is eternally faithful to His people (Psalm 100:5). He is the same God this year as He was last year (Hebrews 13:8). If you have not seen your promises come to pass yet, they will! Let’s encourage one another in the Lord, hold each other up in hard times, and celebrate one another’s victories. It is all for the glory of God. The Lord has not been slack concerning His promises (2 Peter 3:9) and I for one am so excited and expectant to see what comes next! He loves us beyond measure (Ephesians 3:19).
